THE CUNNING LAWS OF THE NINJA. \._.
... No. It's the rules of the roleplay boards.
Please take even just one minute to browse these rules, or else I will cry and no longer give away cookies, chocolates, pies, or any other sweets. T^T~
... Or whatever else food items/plush toys/miscellaneous things that you all wanted.
I. POST ORGANIZATION
I.A. We all have done our best to indicate where specific posts should be placed, so please be organized and place where things should be. If you are unsure of anything at all, do not be shy to go and ask questions in the Question & Answer / Suggestions thread.
OFF-TOPIC POSTS SHALL BE DELETED.
I.B. If there is a need to go "out of character" (OOC) inside a specific roleplay thread, then indicate that you are NOT speaking "in-character" (IC). These are usually marked by DOUBLE brackets, braces, or parenthesises. Messages or posts without the marks shall be regarded as IC posts.
Examples:
(( This is a sample OOC message. >o<! ))
[[ ... ( ' v ' ) And this is another example. ]]
I.C. Indicate what genere, age requirement, and type each and every roleplay threads are. PLACE THEM IN YOUR ROLEPLAY TITLE. If there must be 18+ content, then WARN people about it. We do not want to traumatize anyone.
FORMAT:
[Age Requirement] Public or Private/Original or Fan Fiction - Title (Genere)
genere - eg. adventure, medieval, magical, mystery, et cetra.
age requirement - E (everyone), PG (Parental Guidance), 18+ (Mature content)
Note: Mature content may contain hardcore, bloody details. NO PORNOGRAPHY ALLOWED.
type - fan fiction or original, private or public
Note: Private roleplays only allow specific people to roleplay in them. Public is free-to-join roleplay threads.
Examples:
[PG] Public/Fan Fiction - Traveling Together (Trickster Online adventure)
[E] Private/Original - A Quiet Day (High school drama)
II. WRITING STYLES
There are many styles of writing roleplays. However, two of the most famous and commonly used are the dialouge and narrative styles. Other styles include journal, poetic, letter, et cetera. It is recommended that everyone would use the narrative style in formal roleplays while the dialouge style for casual roleplays, such as roleplaying inside the OOC Bar.
Examples:
narrative sentence - The girl stopped, seemingly shocked; eventually she smiled, and then hastily stood up from her chair.
dialouge sentence - Ivory: ... Ehhh?!!!! @O@~~ S-s...seriously...? O--oh... wait... I think, I think I understand! xX;;;;;
III. COURTESY AND RESPECT
No matter how pathetic someone else is in roleplaying, that person still deserves respect. We are like a family here and it would be a good thing if everyone would catch each other's backs. If the case was stupid spelling, grammar, or simply just bad roleplaying, we all have to remember that no one is perfect. If you really cannot handle it anymore, there are always various ways to fix problems. If there would be must, then try finding good and peaceful ways on how you can help the person improve. Who knows, perhaps it might just help.
The ONLY exemption to this is when your CHARACTER, and NOT player, is a bully himself/herself.
IV. GODMODDING
The use of "God Mode" is highly prohibited. No one here is "higher" than another person or character. And no matter how much you dislike the other person or character, do NOT let personal matters affect your performance in roleplaying. You are to think and act like your CHARACTER, and NOT as the player.
You are godmodding when a character is ridiculously too strong in terms of characteristics. These include:
- your character cannot die, be harmed, or be touched (a.k.a. INVINSIBILITY)
- your character is always in the middle of the spotlight (a.k.a. "LOL I'M teh BEST!11 j00 ALL suxx0rz!11zzlolol")
- your character knows EVERYTHING that is happening or is about to happen
Please, no characters are allowed to be "god-like." There is NO Gameshark nor HAX in -decent- literary works. For more information, please read Rohjin's Roleplaying Tutorial.
V. CHARACTER SUBMISSION
Since we all know that MOST of the players around here that are interested to try out roleplaying are new to this, I have decided to implement the "Character Approval" measure. Before using a character/characters in roleplay threads, please submit your complete character data in the Character Registration thread. Once approved, then the approved character(s) are ready to be used.
UNAPPROVED CHARACTERS THAT ARE USED SHALL NOT BE ACCEPTED IN THREADS.
Note: Approved characters can only be used by ONLY the characters' OWNER.
