So you're bored. Bored enough to lurk on these boards being utterly bored. Well, rhyming is fun but RPing is FUNNER. Though, it's a lil' difficult and knowing the rules and how to RP are important. I will start with examples.

QUOTE
Bad RP:

*killz j00 with my 1337 swoards* lol you are the wrost playe *jump on tree* i ajm teh pwn

QUOTE
Good RP:

Rohjin glares with utmost concentration and readies his rapier. "You won't be surviving this round. I'm much stronger than you, fool," he said, sweating trickling down his brow. He licked his lips and slowly crept into a battle stance. "I'm sure I can win this," Rohjin thought, "He seems to leave his left side open." Rohjin blasted foward and sliced down, hoping to make a hit.

Okay. Now, who can tell me what the differece between those two styles were?

*raises hand* ME!!! OOO!!! ME!!!

...
Okay, Rohjin.

...
The first sucked and the second was good?

Very good Rohjin! Perryrin will give you a cookie later! Does anyone know why one sucked and the other was good?

Nobody? lol, n00bs!

Now...ONTO THE GUIDE!

There are a few rules of RP. The include but are not limited to these!

-Capitalization
-Punctuation
-Spelling
-Speaking on the third person
-Not Godmoding
-Having believeable characters

What's Godmoding you ask? lol, n00b, that's when you act like God! In other words, when your character is so 1337, he or she can't be beaten. Oh, also, Godmodding is when you hit a character without thier permission (the person decides if they want to get hit or not and if they never get hit, THAT'S Godmodding too...zomg, all these rules).

What's speaking in the third person? Well, I'll give an example, those are fun.

First Person- I walked down the street when I jumped and I said, "Hey, yo! Gimme pudding!"

Third Person- Rohjin walked down the street when he jumped and said, "Hey, yo! Gimme pudding!"

Both sentences talked about Rohjin but the correct sentence doesn't refer to Rohjin as himself. Yeah, that's it.

BELIEVEABLE CHARACTERS

In real life, is everyone the 'Chosen One'? Does everyone have super strength? Is everyone unkillable? Does anybody not have a personality error? No. Your character is going to have thier weaknesses and a FEW strengths. Superman, isn't a believeable character (that's why he sucks) and if you ever RPed as Superman, people wouldn't let you RP. No one has a perfect personality either, you know that. Well, yeah, except for me, I know I'm perfect, thanks. <- That's definately a personality error, they think they perfect. But you should get the point.

GOOD GRAMMAR AND PUNCTUATION

While certain styles that use ** these are fine, most aren't. You generally want to type as if you would if you were writing a book. Use "" for when you say stuff and use...nothing when you do action. Styles that are fine will have the action written properly like the example below..

:Mayrin walked down the road with little thought, she bumped into a drunk fool and said: HEY WATCH IT N00B!!!

When you can do all of the following, you are considered, Literate. When you can only do half of these things, you're semi literate. When you're an utter moron who can't type, you're illiterate. When you type with 2 or more paragraphs per post, your're para-literate.

Note: You generally want to write a paragraph, being as detailed as possible.

Alirght, that's it. I hope I helped you onto the road of literacy. That's all. Oh, and Perryrin owes me 3 cookies for helping him.
Perryrin
Well, well. And I was in the middle of doing my tutorial.
But anyway, thanks for doing this part.

And lol... Well, you would've won, really.

GOOD GRAMMER AND PUNCTUATION

It's "grammar." If that was a typo, then... *gives cookies* Queer eye, eh.
We do all have to watch spelling or double-check words (In case of a typographical error/errors.) as well, not only grammar and punctuation.

Oh, and a small tip to all goers around here.

Dictionary.com is everyone's best friend. If you are unsure of a spelling or word, or you wish to use synonyms to replace overused words, then it's a good place to go, rather than hussling with a thick dictionary.
Rohjin
Yeah, I forgot to check my spelling. Well, nothing an edit can't do.
