is it ask jeeves and googlebot and a few of the members that spread out those porn posts?

I suspect ask jeeves and the weird names... we should ban all the weird names.. it shouldn´t even be possible to write them when you enter here... that way we can stop at least a few entrys of these posters....

ask jeeves is also always online when the posters appears... I suspect we have something there... hm... oh... I add the sig so you know I´m not one of them... (it´s obvoius but I do it anyway for those who doesn´t know me well...XD )

Ive never seen anyone named ask jeeves before...i know of the online search engine but, if you think you got him chaos, maybe we should check out his profile

I really dont like this... first we have this googlebot "googling" this place.. then this guy... hm... I think I´ll go around the net finding out what type of program this ask jeeves is... I´m highly suspisious about this...

Edit: K... checked it out... well... not sure exactly... but this Ask Jeeves are one of the Ask.com sites... perhaps the googlebot has made an conecction with the ask.com site and made that one... not sure.. I´m just guessing here... well.. at least I know that the ask.com sites aren´t any dangerous ones... it´s a site where you ask about different things... simply put a knowledge site...
Still... I do think that googlebot put it there... something we can do about it? And do about googlebot? He´s harmless.. but extremely annoying spamming automaticly because he´s a bot...

Ask Jeeves is the site/search engine as someone already mentioned and google is as everyone knows the search engine. Search engines have bots that are always active filing all those sites on the net. If you're in their engine they will check your site for any changes. Obviously it's not a person, it's a bot doing the work to make sure when someone searches for something that it comes up properly and that your site comes up as current as possible. Then your site is re-ranked in the search pages so that it comes up in the proper places.

It's not those doing all the porn stuff... it's someone (not anyone we know or anyone from **trickster as someone was suspecting in another post) with a bot spamming forums to make some extra cash. Just make sure you don't click on the link (because some of them they get paid for if anyone even clicks on it) plus the fact that it could be malicious... although last one I checked was not. It's just some random person or random company trying to make some extra $$. If it is someone that has visited this site they could do that too but making assumptions will never get ya anywhere cause they all use proxies so you won't track it down to one person. It'll be never ending.

I've known some individuals AND companies that use these bots to spam galore their site or sometimes things like porn and viagra too. It makes lots of money so people spam the heck out of forums that don't have the protection it SHOULD have. Heck, even with it some bots will get through and sometimes its just individuals spamming the heck out of forums. But I've been watching the posts/threads that have been on this forum and it has to be a bot. If you check the times on it and the number of threads that are opened that very minute...It's gotta be a bot... plus the fact that it all seems to have the same format. Even a copy and paste would take longer than what its taken these to post. Heck, they even have the time to include a post icon LOL.

Oh also, if you guys haven't noticed... the reason WHY googlebot is always on is because this forum has ads on it. If you've ever opened a thread or looked at someones thread you will see right after the first post. "Googlebot" and you will see that it's in the group "Bot". Whoever created this forum allowed these bots to reside here for whatever reason. Likely to use the forum soft for free or something to that nature. Anyway, pretty sure askjeeves is the same exact thing. Just so you guys see why it's always active.

Anywho, ending my rant. As I've said from the start we just need someone to upgrade the forums or put some hacks (modifications) into place. I will volunteer myself for it if someone can trust me with the permissions. I have had many years of experience with this sorta thing.. but it doesn't look likely the heads will give me that sorta power so I do hope something is done sooner than later. It's getting to become a chore coming here cause I have to weed through all the spamz0rs.

what she said ^-^ i think google is just here to advertise our forums on google and update it for google search just like she mentioned so i dont think that either googlebot or askjeeves is the source of the spamming.

I never thought google was the reason, i just never though as jeeves being like a uh...advertisement on something like trickster.
I still think its either bot programs other people are using, or other people actually generating accounts constantly...though if they were people, dont you think they'd get tired of it after a while?

Try to look at it from a positive spot then, the more they post, the more active we'll want to be, the more active we are, the more full our forums will be! And the more active and full our forums are, the more people will want to be a part of it, and as long as we can keep them under control then we have no need to really fear these posters. well i haveto agree with what some of the things shadera said but ppl might not come because of the porn posts and some ppl might accidently clik on the link and theyll tell their parents that this is a bad site and i have a macafee siteadvisor that tells you that if this site is safe or not

Maybe we could do something like, setting up booby trapped threads or something, where if you try to post a link, it stops and bans you! So you cant do it! And it's sure to work because how many people out there post links to stuff on random threads?

I have some friends that could probably help me with that, if you find it ok bluedragon, and if you want to talk it over with the other moderators, i could actually make that work.
And if it would be better, ill also post a poll so that we can get a public opinion. And this definatly works, because then people will know what to look out for, and if the posters are now only limited to real posts, we can easily control it.
